To those few of you who occasionally check out my blog, I must tell you how much this latest hurricane worries me. I lived in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit and, let me tell you, no matter how physically prepared you are with supplies and strategies, there is no way to adequately prepare for the emotional and economic consequences that can follow.
If you live anywhere near the potentially affected area, GET OUT. I lost pretty much everything in Katrina but the lives of my family members remain, and that in the end is all that matters.
If you do not live in the affected area, please do what you can in the aftermath to relieve those that are affected. If you feel incapable of offering any significant assistance, just know that no effort is too small. When you are down and out, the simplest things can mean everything.
